Tools overview
HTTP tools, MCP servers, and integrations for agents
Tools
The Tools library holds reusable capabilities agents can invoke during conversations.
Tool types
| Type | Use case |
|---|---|
| HTTP | Call your backend APIs with structured JSON |
| MCP | Connect Model Context Protocol servers |
| Integrations | Import from connected automation and workflow providers |
| Built-in | Phone, assistant, and platform actions — including Collect Contact |
Dashboard workflow
Open Build → Tools.
Create an HTTP tool or connect an integration import.
Define the JSON schema the LLM should produce when calling the tool.
Attach the tool to agents on the Actions tab in the agent wizard.
You cannot delete a tool that is still attached to an agent. Detach it from agent Tools settings first.
Built-in: Collect Contact
Capture visitor details during chat (inline form) or voice (conversational) and upsert into Contacts. Optional HTTPS forward after save. Full setup and Agent Console test steps: Collect Contact.
Built-in: Send Email
Send an email via the org Email (SMTP) integration. Requires SMTP connected under Manage → Integrations before the tool can be attached and used.
Built-in: Send SMS
Send one templated SMS using a configured organization HTTP SMS gateway integration.
Built-in: Handoff
Route the conversation to another assistant or a dynamic router without ending the session.
For multi-agent workflows, prefer Squads and canvas handoff edges — each member keeps its own tools, and the squad graph is the source of truth for transfers.
Agent-specific setup: Tools & MCP.
REST management: Tools API.
